ECG/EKG artefacts

Demonstration of the common artefacts such as 50Hz (or 60Hz), muscle noise (EMG) and cable movements. The plot you see is the original data as it was recorded by our bio-amplifier. In this way you can see what happens when Vasso changes the connections and that it takes quite a while until the amplifier recovers. 50Hz mains can be avoided by using fresh electrodes and short cables. Remember that 50Hz is eliminated by using the differential amplifier. However this works only if the 50Hz from all electrodes is identical requiring identical electrode contacts.

Artefacts cause problems when detecting the heartrate: Bernd Porr, Peter W. Macfarlane (2024) A new QRS detector stress test combining temporal jitter and F-score (JF) reveals significant performance differences amongst popular detectors. Plos One.
